I had a bustling, suprisingly well-run Fortress where my happy miners were happily.... mining.... away. They were digging a new tunnel, when I got this message(well, something along these lines):

Ghodez Furlungad, Forgotten Beast, has appeared!

Then is had a breif description of him as a giant leech with a scorpion tail and a dragonlike head. It also labled it "The Vile Conquerer".

This thing had pages and pages and pages of kills. It was pretty scary. It immediatly came upon my miners and began to slaughter them. I had them flee back to my Fortress, but there were only three left, and it followed. I sent some of my military after it. They fought, but Ghodez was winning. He was barely injured, and had killed dozens of Dwarves. Only five of my military dwarves remained, two of them badly injured. I go back up, and send a random novice axedwarf(named Thagdur Normunguld) to keep it busy.

Thagdur rushes Ghodez and hacks it in the side, puncturing a lung. Then, he decaipitates it.

Let me reiterate. My military, who was decently trained, was decimated. My novice axedwarf kills it in less then a second.

FUCKING AWESOME!

If you have any amount of imagination you will enjoy this.

A conventional catsplosion is an uncontrolled overpopulation of cats, believed to be intended as an elven ploy to prevent the further development of the game Dwarf Fortress. Dwarven scholars believe that the elves, in conjunction with Al Qaeda, are operating in order to reduce the frame rate of players by forcing them to waste CPU cycles on rendering the pathfinding of literal seas of kittens, queens, and toms. Eventually, players find the game too slow to be playable, and no longer provide any donations to Bay 12 Games, resulting in the destruction of the world as they know it...

*on catsplosion counters*

...thanks to the Scamps Conventions of *v0.28.181.40d and *v0.31.03, the number of Thermonuclear Catsplosions has been drastically reduced, for the ignition keys are now by law hidden in a very Fun place after worldgen. They are, therefore, unavailable to prospective modders elf-fondling terrorists to use after then without causing drastic, system-wide instability to their computer networks.

As a warning, here's the only video footage ever recovered from the horrible aftermath of a thermonuclear catsplosion...

Basically people set the standard temperature of a cat to be 40 000 degrees, as well as making their limbs detach easier. Beacuase DF is so realistic the massive heat output of these cats would create not only a mushroom cloud, and a thin layer of obsidian (volcanic glass) and lava, but also a massive shock-wave from the air pressure change. All these combined together were enough to change the in game weather patterns. If you did this with enough cats you could very well destroy the world.
